Ensure the bolt shank does not touch the intake and use a hard fiber or hi temp plastic washer under the bolt , this stops direct heat transfer from the head to the bolt to the intake. The Vortec intake is also about roughly 1/2" wider than any chevy intake as well. Vortec heads will swap to an old block.
