Web25 nov. 2024 · Idiopathic generalized epilepsies (IGE) manifest with typical absences, myoclonic jerks and generalized tonic clonic seizures (see Chap 4 on epileptic seizures). A patient may have only one of these types of seizure but others may have a combination of two or all of them depending on syndrome. WebIdiopathic Generalized Epilepsy. Seizures associated with idiopathic generalized epilepsy tend to begin in the early school-age years or in the teens. The cause of this type of epilepsy is presumed to be genetic. Typically, the specific genetic abnormality is unknown, and no one else in the family is known to have epilepsy.
