WebJun 12, 2024 · If the air is leaking out, then it will fill up with water, rapidly max out the pressure, and shut the pump off. Normally, the pressure would gradulally increase as it compresses the trapped air. If yours spikes, that would be consistent with my understanding. Note, I'm not a pro. Went to take a look and this is what I found. 1. Looks like a Honeywell EA122 Automatic Air Vent. This is supposed to have an open and closed position, with expanding discs to "prevent" leakage. 2. Expansion tank seems fine.

If that fit is not so good because of deposits you have your leak. You can take them apart clean them and try them again. This fails so frequently I don't bother with the labour any more.
